Default 02 Forester Turbo, what can I do to it..

I have just changed from a 02 WRX to a Forester Turbo and under the bonnet looks very familiar, what mods can I do to the forester that will give me the kick in the back that we are all used to. Can I take out cats etc... will wrx stuff be interchangeable and is there a remap available?

Cheers

Alan

Alan,

Virtually everything you did with a WRX can be done. You are fundamentally limited by the teeny weeny TD035, but TD04L is a straight swap and dirt cheap.

TEK Remap can be done. Bob did mine and it's

Markb1 has done the same as you and is in the middle of his modding. PM him.

Just the news I wanted to hear, what is the Forester like, now that you have the remap, compared to a standard Impreza and what sort of money is the remap?

Cheers

I love it. Total sleeper, attracts little attention ( until they hear the decat ). Ran 250/227 *before* the remap at PE, I'm waiting for my deltadash to turn up to get current figures, but it now boosts much harder and holds it for ever. Runs @ 15psi peak now.

Have full decat, samco hoses , 3 port solenoid & forge recirc so far engine-wise. (don't forget mine is a JDM so already has the td04 installed ).

you'll already realise you need to do some mods on the suspension to tighten it up. A classic impreza arb bolts straight up.. I got a 20mm from an RB5, droplinks are standard for now, but will put some whiteline's on. Front strut brace is same as classic also , I'm a tart, so have bought a carbon Sti one .

17" wheel swap (et+48) will allow you to fit std subaru 4 pots underneath ( also straight bolt on replacements ), std 2 pots are 'interesting'.

I got my remap through a group buy with BRDevelopments. They are fairly regular, or contact info@brdevelopments.com for more info.

Picking up decat pipes tomorrow and will start looking for a TD04 also. How did you manage 250bhp before a remap, and when you say yours is a JDM what do you mean. Sorry for the stupid questions but you have me very interested now

JDM Japanese Domestic Market. Bigger turbo and different mapping for 100ron fuel made them 240 or 250ps (depending on the year)

Dyno result is here http://www.subaruforester.com/viewto...r=asc&start=15

Butty has a TD04 for sale for not much. I have pointed him at this thread.

He knows you are looking . You do realise the backbox section for the forester is different to the impreza ? ( downpipe and center are identical ).... Hayward & Scott will sort you a 'proper' one..... or an Afterburner maybe.....

I've been told that the downpipe isn't the same as a Impreza - Hayward & Scott do a decat downpipe for £175 + VAT though.

I have a classic impreza decat downpipe on mine (2001) ~ a H&S one.

You had to move the mounting tabs on the pipe yes? I believe theyre all the same shape but for the mounting points, and the foresters being about 1-2" longer overall

I had a look at Markb's GB Forester when he took my decat mid section and rear box.
The GB downpipe main section was shorter but had an extra section to take up the whole length to an Impreza size.
The JDM Forester has exactly the same length as the Impreza.
Foretser rear boxes have a longer exit pipe as the bumper is deeper. Trying to fit an Impreza rear box is likely to lead to a melted bumper, although I think Ira got around the problem?
