don't know about the oil filter mate, but i recently bought a genuine subaru fuel filter off ebay for £18. dealer wants about £30 odd + vat.

not saving a fortune but every bit helps!

I was thinking about bidding on that filter... Is it the genuine Subaru one?
I think there is another for sale?

Halfords sell Champion oil filters £7.50. Good quality and I've not had one leak so far. Not sure if they do fuel filters.

*****,

the fuel filter i bought was from user name sj416, and yes it would appear to be genuine.
i collected this from the guys house so i'm quite confident about it's authenticity. came in a subaru box and looks identical to the one on the car.
seems he gets a fairly steady flow of scooby bits so if you miss out on this one there should be others

yet to find out what the dealer thinks when i dump a box load of bits on his desk to use for the service and he can't charge me his **** take prices

Can someone help me, does anyone know where the fuel filter is for the legacy B4 RSK. Someone already told me its right under the bonnet next to the windscreen water bottle, its the same as impreza sti v5. But i cant find nothing near the bottle, can anyone help me please? Also the timing bet and the belt tensioner, is it the same as another impreza? My B4 is year 2000 auto.

Thank you

the 200my legacy was a change over so if it's not by the washer bottle then it's in the tank. totally different to the one by the bottle so if you've brought that one then take it back for a refund coz the new one is a bit more.
to get at it you have to lift the rear seat on the off side remove the 4 self tapping screws holding down the metal plate then undo two clips on the pipework (you should also replace the o rings in these clips as well) then remove the plug the other rubber pipe and then the ring of about 10 bolts lift out the metal frame then with a bit of fiddling remove the pump unit. on this is a gold coloured cylinder take the earth wire off then twist the cover off. replace the paper element and remembering to remove the o rings as you have to reuse them then reassemble.

it's best to do this with a nearly empty tank and remove the fuel cap as well to let out any pressure

Did an oil change last week on my 03sti, the genuine filter was £10 + vat from my local subaru dealer. Cheap as chips.

Good news is got the filters from dealer as per post above, bad news is they gave me the wrong ones (only found out after i had molested the old one off, Had to put a Halfors one on !! not happy.

Presume the ones they sold me are for the bug and bleary eye's .... very small !
