Question octane booster problems

Hi all,

Can an octane booster damage the catalytic converter and the lamdba sensor? Is remapping the only solution to the jap ecu reading 100rn?

Cheers.

Apparently yes with continual use you 'may' get a buildup of deposites on lambda sensor and/or cat.

Remapping is not the only solution - 98 RON and water injection (.4mm @ .8bar boost) has seen me through the last 12 months with my 97 Sti JDM.

If the octane booster has been designed to run with catalytic converters then it should do so safely, as for deposits, well just look out the back of your exhaust, they all get like that

If your car is 99 onwards then a copy of Delta Dash can be used to retard the ignition by up to 5 degrees which is likely to be more than enough if you are using Optimax. The memory is kept until the ECU is unplugged or the battery disconnected.

A knocklink is a really good idea.

NF octane booster also works a treat. 1ml/litre should keep the knocklink quiet on most imports, which will cost about £2.50 per 50ml for a typical 50 litre fill up. Some cars need a bit more.

Hi Andy, remember your car

MAF, lambda, fuel pressure, air leaks, plug condition/gap and overboost are a few things high up on the list.

A lot of Scoobies are a little hesitant when cold - for emissions regs the car goes to closed loop fuelling quite early and can hesitate around this relatively lean fuelling on cold engine.

They should all be smooth when hot.
