Question

How much can I expect to pay for the 3 year 45k mile service with cambelt change......
Price's and if it was a main dealer or specialist would be good

I paid £399 at a main dealer, it's a biggie cos the cam belt has to be changed for the 45,000 service.

Hope this helps

Question

What model we talking about here? Servicing schedules do vary and the 30000 mile service was a biggy on my STi5

Bend over now! Just picked my MY00 up from a 45k 3yr service at main dealer, including MoT and refitting the standard downpipe. Total cost £689

Without the MoT and downpipe labour, it would have been about £550 - £600.

They also found the cambelt tensioner was failing and the anti roll bar droplinks had worn both replaced under warranty at a cost of c.£300 to Subaru.

Dave

Mine's an my00 uk turbo too, so it sounds like I got a good deal. That was at Wilsons in Chadwell Heath. Looking at your profile, they should be right on your doorstep

Paid about £480 for this service on my MY00 a couple of months ago including the cambelt change. Was at Quenbys in Baldock, Herts.

Dan

When you get a moment, can you post the make-up of the bill - ie list/cost of parts used and labour hours and rate. I'm struggling to see how swapping a downpipe (which I know had no seized bolts as I checked them all the previous week) plus a 45k service has cost me almost £700.

Did your service include the 3yr body service - I noticed my service book hasn't been stamped for this and there is no specific charge for it on the invoice.

Thanks

Dave

I've a 45K service and 3 year body service booked next week.

So.... £350-450 for the 45K service....
Reckon on a couple of hours plus some underseal gunk for the body service.... Shouldn't be more than £550-£600 really.

Vindaloo.

check your chassis number first, as you may NOT need the cambelt changing just yet - even on the MY00. Mine's a later edition of the MY00 which has a special code in the chassis number, either X or Y - can't remember now. Anyway, it differentiates between 3 years/45k cambelt change, and 4 years, 60k.

Sounds weird, but I got this straight from two main dealers.

MrDBM

I raised this with the dealer - however the service book is inconsistent - the "schedule" page showing what needs doing when said 4 yrs / 60k miles. However, the service record page for the dealer stamp included cambelt change in the 3yr / 45k stamp box. So I ended up having it done. To my mind, I'd rather pay the cost of a new belt and fitting rather than risk it snapping outside the warranty period leaving me to pick up the bill.

Dave

ps were it to remain in warranty til the 4yr service, I might have argued this point more.

Thumbs up 45k service cost

Finally had the 45k service done at the main dealers and could'nt believe the cost
Did'nt have the cambelt change done as pointed out by MrDBM, my car is a late MY00 and its not required until 60k service, dealer backed this up.
£182.01 inc the dreaded VAT

I also have an MY00 and had 45k service last summer. I was told the belt didn't need doing until 60k. Mr Subaru hasn't done anything but just decided to change the service intervals on these cars beacause they are more reliable somehow?!
I had mine changed at 45 for my own peace of mind. I figured I was going to have to change it sooner or later anyway. Apparently broken cambelts are extremely expensive......
