Talking

I know this was covered a while ago but I can't find the thread...

Basically I want to lag a H&S downpipe that's about to go on my P1. If I remember correctly you can't just use any old stuff due to the high temps involved.
Can anyone tell me what I need to get, how much of it and where from please?? Also do I need jubilee clip type things to secure and can it be "painted" - actually, "sealed" would be a better word?

Thanks v much

Brilliant, just the job - thanks very much

I take it 50' x 1" of the exhaust wrap will be enough to do the downpipe?

I bought 'Manifold Wrap' by Powerap from Rally Design (here. I got a 30 metre roll of 5cm-wide wrap (code RAP004) and covered the exhaust manifold, up-pipe and also the downpipe. Yes, 50ft by 1-inch should be fine for a downpipe.

After applying the wrap, I also painted it with VHT paint (code SP102, £9.98+VAT). It helps with insulation and also should prevent the wrap soaking up as much oil, grease, water and general road cr@p as it would otherwise.

Simon, you can buy it in 5m lengths (about a tenner each) from Merlin Motorsport at Castle Combe Race track, just down the road They also sell the Stainless Steel Ties aswell. You could prob get away with just one roll, as you only really need to go past the Bulkhead anyway!
