Fuel light??

Does yours come on when you turn the key before starting? Mine doesn't, and I dare not run it low enough to see if it works cos I'll probably run it dry. The needle was right on the bottom line, and I still only got about 44 liters in it.
Also - has anyone else got some silly restriction about 6" inside the fuel filler pipe??? It looks like a hoop for the pump nozzel, but mine has either slipped or been knocked in a bit further.

Never seen my fuel light come on, all ways fill up just as it gets the the red marker, normally will only take 45 liters from this marker to fill it to the brim.

Huw,
what years the car, and i'm guessing it's an import, early cars have a 50ltr tank, later ones a 60. 99's and 00's defo have a light, also, the filler thing I think is part of the SVA thing, it's so you can't get a 'leaded' nozzle in there!!!
