During the cold weather and after replacing my prodrive rear silencer and rear section exhaust with a hayward and scott afterburner, in the cold weather it seems to judder when just making boost, the car also feels hesitant, anyone have any ideas? I have heard of cars overboosting in the cold weather, is this true?

Could be boost spiking, yes. Take it you're not running a boost gauge?

The 03STi's have a very small actuator restrictor orifice (and I presume the PPP one is smaller again), and thus are prone to this issue when making further exhaust modifications.

Get it checked out very quickly, as one lumphead posted here relatively recently of how he blew his engine on three separate occasions in virtually identical circumstances. You've already theoretically invalidated your warranty, so the last thing you want is for IM to be sending you a big bill if it ends up going bang.

cheers, i replaced the complete exhaust system on my classic impreza and had no problems. and yes you are correct im not running a boost gauge. however i filled the car with fresh petrol and although its a few degrees warmer the engine runs fine without any judder. didnt think the exhaust would make much difference as the ppp rear silencer is straight through and a simillar diameter but has more packing around it. however i did remove the rear resonator (the pipe before the rear silencer) with
a straight through item, just wanted more noise basically as the prodrive item was a bit quiet. my friend is having similar problems with his sti 03 ppp, and his is unmodified!

would this over boost be a big judder like driving with someone who has no pedal control, or just a slight judder like its slightly starved of fuel?
