Unhappy

My main water hose on MY99 Impreza wagon (big S pipe to the left of radiator) has blown tonight(and i wasn't booting it),
i've heard that this is a common pipe to go, If so why,and is
there something to prevent it, What about braided hoses etc,

Any help please!!!

I've had this!
I think it's only the std hoses it affects. I fitted Samcos and it's been fine so far

Standard hose is well up to the job in terms of blow off pressure. Need to make sure the clamps are kept nice and tight as the rubber hose will have a slight tendency to set in position and the clamps do not compensate for this (silicone is worse still). Get a new hose mate with new clamps also, give the interfacing connectors a good clean and degrease and possibly roughen the surface a little before fitting the hose. That should do it.

Cheers lads for that,
Question for Dyney,
Are Samcos a more uprated pipe cuz i no nothing about this field,
And what price am i looking at,
Just to make things clear the pipe actually split in the middle of the pipe and didnt blow off at fitting joint!

Yep I know of at least 4 that have split on the bend.

The cheapest place for samcos is http://www.raldes.co.uk/ The Samco coolent kit for a UK my99 is about £78 (I think the std top hose from Subaru is £18!)

When uping the boost it is generally recomended to fit Samcos to the turbo/intercooler as they will withstand higher pressures.
I would asume it's the same with the coolent hoses.
The Subaru hoses are made to a price and to cope with std pressures, Samcos are made for motorsport! Do a seach for their website and read up on them.

The std hose will do and the Samcos are quite expensive for what they do

When mine let go I came to the conclusion that if one had gone the rest can't be far behind
