Anyone know the above for a classic MY00?
Looking into carbon fibre- just wondered if the cost is justified?

Dunno about the Impreza, but a 1996 Legacy GT-B bonnet weighs about 20-25kg.

No, but my import WRX alloy bonnet is 1/3 or less of the weight of my mates UK scooby!
Should have seen it when he lifted the bonnet for a nosey - nearly took off he lifted so hard expecting the weight of a steel one!

Why not take your bonnet off and stick it on the bathroom scales?

You may be surprised.... the steel bonnet feels really heavy when you lift it up compared to the ali one but take them off the car and they don't feel all that different. I know because i had both my ali and steel bonnets sat on the garden next to the car.... should have weighed them

Tony.

Duh - you only need to put the middle of the bonnet on the scales - so all of the weight of the bonnet is on the scales (ie not touching the floor).

It varies so much depending on whether it's an aluminium bonnet, steel bonnet, whether it's UK or Japanese etc etc. The only way you'll know is to take it off and weight your particular one. They're not hard to take off - but be aware that as it's a big heavy sheet of metal, you might drop it and bend it, so best to have someone to help support it whilst you undo the hinges.

You could also try fliping the car onto its roof, then open the bonnet catch, thus letting the bonnet land on the same said scales.

A bit of advice, use a good quality towel under the roof to prevent scratching.

R6.

Sorry!
