I run a my94 WRX with a full de-cat, hks induction kit and a scooby ecu. I run the car at the PE r/r day and got 295 bhp and 299 lb torque. I have a Knock link fitted and am getting the dreaded red light when pulling though the gears. I popped into the local subaru garage and they plugged it into the select monitor which showed no faults. I was advised a new set of plugs whjch i fitted today. Went for ngk pfr7b's (told was better for higher boost levels). Now taken the car on a test run and the det is still there.
Does anybody have any more ideas as to what could be causing this as it is really starting to get on my nerves now!
Cheers

Question

how much boost are you running?

also have you got an uprated pump and regulator?

edit to say, that is some torque peak!

Hi Barry it maybe a primary problem with your map ie balance of fuel/ignition/boost or a fuel problem related to faulty/inadequate pump. I had a very similar problem and it turned out to be the MAF sensor was buggered. If you have a friend with a Scoob swap them over and see.

Reset the ecu..

I used to get this on mine with a similar set up.. reset the ecu and it would disappear..

No idea of the course but might get it safe and not detting for a bit..

Disconnect the battery for over an hour or look here for the reset procedure.

would that not advance it too much and make it worse until the ecu had re-learned?.

I am guessing that it is running quite a bit of boost to have a torque peak so high at PE.

T-UK,

I would agree but mine used to Det.. reset the ecu and no det..

Spec at the time was H&S Downpipe, centre and backbox, HKS induction kit, Scoobyecu set to just over 1bar.. on a TD05 equipped MY96 UK Turbo.

Thanks for the replys guys. At the moment the map has a peak boost of 15.5 psi but it shows more on the gauge. I'm told the early maf is supposed to be Quite good and don't break down like the later ones so i hope it isn't that. I'm going to get it looked at on sunday with a bit of luck and get the map changed if required.
I'll let you know how i get on.
Cheers,
Barry c
