I presume it will plug in.. but the STi has stronger internals allowing you to run high rpm.. I think you will have issues due to piston speed on a UK car running higher rpm. Assuming the internals are standard.
Also the STi ecu will be mapped for 100RON fuel rather than out 98RON optimax etc..

Surely you will need to switch fueling with the 2.5 and yes you could use bigger injectors and a fuel controller.. and the sti ecu to get your rev limit up.. but by the time you have bought all that lot and messed around you would have been better off buying a Link ECU or similar.. you can set the rev limit to what you want and get the full potential out of the sti block..

Is it possible to swap the STI ecu Ver4 with a standard Scooby of 1998??
The main thing i want to reach is to increase the revs limit.
Have a word with John, I'm sure his input will save you a lot of guesswork.

If the differences mentioned about are there then the apexi would be altering other stuff and wouldn't care about what plugs are on the end of the ecu loom or whether there was a temp input for the charge etc?!
If you are going to the trouble of a 2.5 then do it properly and buy a replacement ecu too.. link, gems, motec etc..
