Is it possible to swap the STI ecu Ver4 with a standard Scooby of 1998?? The main thing i want to reach is to increase the revs limit.

I presume it will plug in.. but the STi has stronger internals allowing you to run high rpm.. I think you will have issues due to piston speed on a UK car running higher rpm. Assuming the internals are standard.

Also the STi ecu will be mapped for 100RON fuel rather than out 98RON optimax etc..

I am putting a new 2.5l block with sti cylinder heads in my car. So it will be capable to run high boost. But are the sensors from a STI the same as non STI car??

Surely you will need to switch fueling with the 2.5 and yes you could use bigger injectors and a fuel controller.. and the sti ecu to get your rev limit up.. but by the time you have bought all that lot and messed around you would have been better off buying a Link ECU or similar.. you can set the rev limit to what you want and get the full potential out of the sti block..

Is the unichip not the programmable one?

Therefore could it not be programmed for the higher rpm limit?

Not without additional work. The STi ECU requires additional (charge temp) sensor inputs that the standard UK engine doesn't have. IIRC there are a number of differences in the loom, but my memory on the <99 cars is hazy at best.

The main thing i want to reach is to increase the revs limit.
This may be unnecessary/undesirable. You will have to do some additional homework on this. I believe John B is working to 7000rpm limit on his USDM 2.5, and I presume this is through necessity rather than choice. If this is the case, the rev limit on a UK ECU will be fine as-is.

Have a word with John, I'm sure his input will save you a lot of guesswork.

When I look at the wiring manual from apexi, they do not make differents of an STI or a standard car. So I think the wiring are the same, isn't it?

If the differences mentioned about are there then the apexi would be altering other stuff and wouldn't care about what plugs are on the end of the ecu loom or whether there was a temp input for the charge etc?!

If you are going to the trouble of a 2.5 then do it properly and buy a replacement ecu too.. link, gems, motec etc..
