I usually end up buffing off a bolt hole on the later gearboxes to allow the turbo to clear. it was one of the added bolts to the phase two block so do not see an issue. at the time I thought it was the replacement up-pipe but I have had to do 3 boxes now. it is worth just removing completely , to save issues when you need to do the clutch. it gets tight removing and fitting the box otherwise

just get a plastic reducer to fit the pipe work.

Shouldn't need to remove any material from engine/gearbox on the TD05. TD06, yes, but not 05

it's the exhaust housing it catches but is strange.

on john's car with Tim?? up-pipe the TD05 went on but when he stripped third we had a hellish fight getting the box off past the turbo. once off there was no way it would go back on without buffing the box.

with my own car with gruppe-s headers I could not even get the turbo on without again attacking the box to remove the bolting point completely. think it was the water hoses this time fouling.

we also had to do the same to john's other box to get it back on too.

Cool

thats what it was. the water cooling hoses. all done and all working ace...i think. was getting a funny holding back when booting it. it was subtle though. not a smash your face of the windscreen or anything and the boost(without a dawes or similar fitted) maxed out at 17.6 psi. just in the middst of setting up the dawes now in order to get the boost down, but what sort of boost should i be ideally running????

Dave - be carefull !! You have an aftermarket air intake system on a std MY99 MAF/ECU, now you have fitted a higher flowing, more efficient turbo which is running more boost.
The holding back you are getting may be a lean mix misfire
This condition has the potential to cause severe damage to your engine.

I wouldn't be running it on boost at all, at least until you get the AFR checked out.
