Question

as you know i am having intermittant non starts

i replace the cam sensor and no joy,, another reply stated that it sould be the crank sensor,, when it happened tonight, i puuled off the lead for the crank sensor then refitted it..

the bugger started fine.. question is can i put the old cam sensor into where the crank one was??


and will it be ok

No, sensors are different, but other trick I have found is when they fail, a small bag of frozen peas helps cool the sensor down, so after around 10mins, its driveable again, worth remembering if it ever breaks down when out somewhere. Yes,Ok I appreciate you hopefully break down near shops, but helpful hint.

Have you tried cleaning the crank sensor..??

Might delay the problem until you can get a new one.

mart 360. had this problem last year. once the car warmed up. if you switched it off it wouldnt start back up, until cooled down. or sometimes would just cut out in traffic. short term solution spray the crank sensor with "easy start car spray" . the car starts straight away. i got a sensor from a breakers yard £ 30.

mart360...i was the one that said unplugg the sensor mine has died on me..i gave www.townend .co.uk a ring and they sorted me out a second hand one for about £20 inc vet.... £100 + vat for a new one..not a bad saving

now have both !!

i will put my original one back (cam) and wait for the fault to reoccur,, then change crank

i wonder why it dosent post it as an error (cel) code though??


thanx gassas wrx did the unplug and it worked last time
