Looking for my spare nipple....
#1
Guys,
I'm fitting my boost gauge on Saturday but can't seem to find the spare nipple on the inlet manifold to connect it to!?... I thought the 1998 UK Spec Turbo had a spare one so I don't need to T-Piece?!..
Has anyone got a picture of can roughly point out where it is for me?....
Matt.

Not too sure where it is on the MY98 coz everythings shifted slightly but on the my 97 its right next to where your manifold pressure outlet is for your BOV (small tube to your Dump Valve), a little rubber long cap thing is on top....

I'll have another look tonight! If I can't see it is there any chance I could post a picture of my engine on the web and someone could point me in the right direction?!....
Matt.

3rd nipple was introduced to rhe manifold on the 99 engines.
Is yours (like mine) a 98 plated, 99 spec car (if that makes sense ) ?
Pic of a engine bay here (hopefully)
IIRC the blanked nipple is just behind the big red lead cover you can see behind the alternator.
If its a 98 engine or you'll have to tee piece it.

Chris,
Thanks very much for your help, looks like I'm gonna have to T-Piece it...!
I guess it's straight forward, where can you get a T-Piece from?... B&Q?... And does is matter which pipe you use?...
Thanks,
Matt.
(Can't wait until Saturday to see what boost I'm pushing!)

Scooby parts.com do a kit for £5.Click here for a link
Havn't used the company so this is not a recommendation, I just spotted it when looking at guages for mine.
JFI - don't cut your pipe in the middle.
If you ever have to remove the gauge then you have to leave the T piece behind.
Instead try and source a small piece of pipe (or use a small section of the gauge pipe supplied), remove the original pipe from its connection point, fit the T piece to the end, then use the small piece to bridge the gap to the original connection point.
Run your gauge pipe from the thirs section of the T and jobs a good un.

Hi Chris,
Got the original piece of pipe for the gauage and a small piece for the T piece, just need a T-piece itself now, I guess B&Q must do something that will fit?
Is it wise to use some hose clips as well?...

I didn't need a T piece as I have a 99 so it pushed straight onto the spare nipple on the manifold - so not to sure if you'll need clips. I didn't clip mine onto the manifold and it ain't moved for the last year.
T piece may be available from a plumbers centre but again I'm not sure.
You could always try what my mate, Mr Mccord did, and blag one off somebody who has a gauge but doesn't need a T piece -
You guessed where mine went yet ?
