As my other thread regarding the fitting of a JDM coupe rear window to my UK saloon. I also need to know how to get the rear window out of the written off car. Once I have it out I can get RAC or whoever to do a removal/refit but how do I get the JDM one off?

TIA

Don't know if they are the same...
But I do know how to remove them. It's a bonded unit so you will have to cut it out. There are a few ways of removal the most commom way is with cheese wire & stanly knife. Other ways are using btb cutting tools or cold cut knifes. When removing just take care with your inside trims, but I dare say you will need to replace the outer ones, depends on how they are bonded on from the factory. Also be carefull arounf the heater element! Any glazing company will be able to refit a screen for you just make sure they do it correct, Use primers & a decent bonding agent.

** Just remember the glass is a toughend unit & will shatter under pressure **

Cheers

Danny

I used a guitar wire to remove mine, removed all the inside trim first, then disconnected the heating element, then made a small hole with a small screwdriver to feed the guitar wire through, then with a pair of gloves on, scissor actioned it all around the seal

You will definatly need to buy a new bottom trim, I bought a top trim too, but didnt really need to, as the one they took off was ok

I didnt bother with the side trims tho, re-used the originals, but I did get a few spare clips from the donor car, but I was told I didnt need them as the RAC have loads of them in tubs for pretty much all cars, as most of them break when you remove the trims

Autoglass wanted 85 quid +VAT wether I went to them or they came out to me, in this current weather they will NOT come out

RAC Windscreens wanted 40 including VAT and it took em an hour, and I went to them (weather conditions mainly)

It is important to tell them it is a replace & refit tho, and that you have the glass, great friendly bunch down at the RAC place too, really helpful

Sonic,

How did you find the wiring of the wiper? easy or hard? Did you get a rear wiper washer bottle too and what did you use as a switch?

Sorry for the questions mate.

Edd.

I'll let you know when Ive got mine wired up

Havent got round to it yet, I need a wiper stalk from a wagon, cant use Jap ones, as they are on the opposite side, Talizman has a good solution tho

I got the water bottle from the donor car, and it sits behind the right hand light cluster
