HKS Induction Kit concern...
#1
I currently have the above induction kit on MY00 for the last 500 miles but I am thinking of taking it off becuase of new fears after reading some threads on them.
I am getting some guages and Kocklink and Lamba link/Dawes AFR or guage AFR the week-end. What I want to know is that if I take off the Induction kit before I get the monitoring equip, I will never know if it caused problems on my car for the last 500 miles or has it affected my engine, so would I be better off leaving it on until I get the monitoring equipment and see from that. Is there any way of knowing if it has caused damage at this stage. I have had no problems with the car at all but I am feeling a bit uneasy about the induction kit.
Secondly what is the worst senario from one of these apart from replacing the air flow meter.
Does anyone reccomend a good panel filter as a replacement?
Thanks.

You never did say if your car was jap or uk....
Worst case senario, maf fails, runs lean, you don't notice. destroyed engine.
It was about 500 miles when mine went with the HKS, as i've said it ran rich though. When i did remove the MAF i couldn't see any build up on it.
If you are that worried you could replace the MAF £70ish, or if you know a tuner, go for a run with a wideband lambda sensor to check the mixture.
Running lean though will induce det, so it should show up on your knocklink before it blows up, also if you do end up with a lambda link mine runs up to the top green light on full throttle then backs of 1 light after about 1/2 a second. If that doesn't make sense now, it will when you see one.
As i've said before i'm still running with my HKS with no problems after that 1 maf failure.

So if I leave the induction kit on the car and install a Lambalinks and a knocklinks and they show no signs of warning signals after driving it, does that mean that everything has been ok for the last 500 miles while I drove it without these precautions.

Hi,
Are the new MAF's for the MY99 Scoob better than the originals as far as this is concerned? I have an MY99 and would like an induction kit but am not wanting to bother with all the fancy gizmos and stuff. I also dont want to knacker my engine.
Does anyone know what the problem with the original MAFS were? And are the new ones better and if so why? More importantly would an induction kit still wreck the engine?
I am planning to change my MAF as a precaution but I aint too technical. If anyone could advise, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ally
