Thumbs up

Hi guy's

Big thanks to Scott Taylor for chipping my Z4 ecu in such a quick time!
However! now thats its back in, i took the car for a spin and it hesitated quite alot when under acceleration.
I had a 15.5psi map put in.
What could be causing this, it was fine before?
Does the engine need to adjust to the new mapping or what
Someone must know because loads of people have had the mod!
Please help!

Thx Tim

check all the connections to the ECU are pushed in properly. It may sound daft and too obvious to get wrong, but it's the stupidest things that cause problems... (in my extensive experience of Murphy's law and making stupid, obvious mistakes )

After this, reset the ECU, as it may have learned some bad habits.

Scott may be interested to hear some more details, so I suggest that you email him if the above doesn't work...

Assume this was posted by dnb too... oops

most likely a problem with your car..

common problems are..

Coilpacks on there last legs
Spark plugs being crap or not gapped.
crap fuel
dodgy fuel pump..

and then other common faults.

leaky dumpvalves.
clogged solenoids
weak / incorrectly adjusted actuators.
Lack of servicing.

Failing that ask scott for a different map..

I've seen this before, coil packs and ignition in general are usually to blame.

The 'problem' isn't one with the scoobyecu, it's the rest of the engine that can't support it.

If you were to up the boost with a Dawes you would have the same issue.

Wink

Probably purely coincidental that this problem has arisen with the fitting of the scoobyecu. Sounds like it is an ignition related problem. The increase in boost will highlight ignition faults

It's not coincedental at all, if you put the ECU back to standard it will probably not misfire. But as you say, increased boost will highlight ignition problems, and seeing as increased boost is one of the things scoobyecu gives you, presto, misfire.

I've replied to Tim with all the usual items mentioned above....

His response was...

Gud newz i hope, the car has started to run much better now it just feels like it needs a bit of a tune to make it perfect! but runs well and pulls much better - i was sat on the *** of a CL500 coupe last night so it cant be that bad and the boost gauge shows its running at 15.5psi too. im impressed and now i dont have to put octane booster in!!!

I think it was probably just re-learning as it had be off the car and in the post for a couple of days.
The ECU will run V.Rich after an ECU reset or if it has been disconnected from a power source for a while.

This will probably cause hesitance or surging until it settles.

Hopefully that's put that one to bed......
