I know this has probably been covered to death but...

My Check Engine Light came on this morning and I want to know where and how to read the code to find out why it came on.

2 things it may be

1. My MAF is playing up at the moment which makes me think its that.

2. It came on as i was taking a roundabout a bit aggressively, which made me think it was low on oil - I have to admit that I've not checked this yet, although I'm pretty sure that there's plenty in there.

I stopped the car in a layby a mile or so down the road, I switched the engine off and when I restarted the car the light didn't come on and stayed off for the rest of the trip.

Help please...

Under the dash near to the steering column you'll find two black connectors. Join these and turn the key til the lights come on the dash. The CEL should start to flash.
