Since I've owned the car my V5 document has shown the incorrect engine number.
10 weeks ago my engine blew up and I've had the thing removed, stripped, cleaned rebuilt and last night its up & running. However the engine number on the V5 has actually been the cylinder/piston bore grade A/B 1/2. So the question is what is the correct location for the number.
On the back of the block at the gearbox mating face is 2 sets of numbers.
One set consists of 6 numbers located where the bulkhead inlet/outlet water hoses are. The other set has 12 numbers (6 on the LH crankcase and 6 on the RH crankcase). Which is the correct engine number so that I can have the V5 amended.

looking from the front of the car into the engine bay.....to the right of the engine at the back where it meets the g/box bellhousing you will find your engine number.......
