At present my MY99 is running a full decat, K&n 57i, Tek3 + 3 port boost solenoid, with all the required gauges telling me whats what!
If i happened to have £1k burning a whole in my pocket, what would be the biggest bang for my buck?

Fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, bigger turbo, methanol, remap.

Then save for a gearbox

How much would a front entry TD05 fitted set me back? I assume it will need bigger pump and injectors? Would this route be fine with the OE top mount or is that where the water injection come in

You asked for bang for the buck, methanol will give you that, cheaper than installing water injection and does not increase you car's change of exploding. Yes you need the pump and injectors and it would still be a big improvement with the TMIC.

Just getting the exhaust slip joints welded, US 2.5 STi short motor with STi 5 flowed heads up and running smoothly in the car, I should get it back this week

Methanol can be added to your fuel tank to give similar results to water injection, it is not that costly either, look at Andy F's earlier threads on the topic. Worth balancing up front costs with water injection vs ongoign costs for methanol.
