Question

Anyone else get this? (Impreza III WRX STi Type UK PPP)

Keep in 4th, 4k revs, boot it (WOT), and feel the kick in the back, then hit ~6000 revs and the acceleration fades slightly, as if the power is sapped.

I was watching my SECS tonight, and when it happened KC (knock correction) dropped from +9.odd to 3.odd and then to 0 at what seems like 6000-6100 revs... and it holds at 0 until 5th is selected.

Sometimes it doesnt do it, and pulls like a train all the way up to 6500-7000k revs.

Perhaps and old batch of optimax? I have never noticed it happen before, perhaps the colder intake temps, increased boost or something? *shrugs*

Me thinks a call to the dealers is in order.

Richie.

Some of the ECU's do have "glitches" I've been told, so may well require changing, but your dealer will be able to sort that one out by simple replacement.

It is a problem with every car, have gone a different way to getting the ppp kit fitted. Currently got the ecutek, what the ppp uses, and a custom 5 inch tail, will be getting the de-cat down at xmas and then predictions are I will be @330bhp with acceleration through to the red line. Now the problem with the car the average boost when it build at around 3000 revs is about 1.1 bar or so, this slowly but surely fades until about 6000 or so when it can be as small as .7. Getting the ecutek tuned to your car instead of having a standard one for all ppp, allows the programmer with the aid of a new fuel pump fitted to keep the boost up on the car (with mods to the fuel air and boost maps on the ecu). I spent an hour driving up and down a piece of dual carriageway with the programmer altering my car and I am now running 1.4 bar up to about 5000 revs and then it fades to the red line where even then it is at about 1.1. Once the down pipe frees up the engine I should be running 1.4 or 3 all the way through to the red line at 7500. Will probably be proved wrong by someone else on here, but this is what I have found and is proven by the ecutek programmer and computer I went out with. Hope it helps talk to ecutek and see if there is anything they can do. With mine I get a free remap the first time, which I intend to use once I have the downpipe fitted.
