New UK300 PPP

noticed a winding sound around 3krpm...sounds like the timing belt?

Its happens when low revs and torque has to be used (like pinking) and when using engine braking in third..usually down a hill.

Its going in for its 1000 miler in three days..just thought I'd ask if anybody got any ideas?

Suppose its under warranty anyway?

whilst I was working at a scooby main-dealers we used to get a few with noises @ around 3k. We traced the fault with the help of I.M to the gearbox. this was what was put down to excessive play in the syncros & shafts causing a rattle (pinking type noise).
