I am running an Sti V3 with full decat and green panel filter. Car hasn't been remapped for UK fuel so I have always used Optimax plus Millers.
Is it possible to use too much Octane Booster - I put bottle of millers in everytime I fill up - sometimes when tank is only 2/3rds empty. Reason I ask is that I have suddenly started getting boost spikes (especially in 3rd gear)and have hit the fuel cut on a few occasions. Normal boost is around 1 to 1.1 bar. Could my fuel be too rich?
Have had Dawes fitted to control boost spikes and this seems to work most of the time but still get the occasional spike.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Can't say about having too much octain booster but what i do is if the tank is 2/3rds empty or half empty then i fill up with just optimax and no booster, and on the next fill up i add a full bottle of octane booster

Adding octane booster doesn't make your car run richer.

The octane rating is purely a measure of the fuel's resistance to detonation.

Re the boost, sounds like you have a problem elsewhere with the car.

Agree with Rich, adding more octane booster than is strictly necessary won't in itself cause any real problems. The cause of the spiking will be elsewhere.

Franko, your technique regarding the booster is far from ideal. If your tank has 20 litres of "boosted" fuel in it, and you add another 40 litres of plain Opti, you won't be running enough booster to be safe. The best approach is to add booster in the correct ratio every time you fill up.

If your going to use booster, use NF, it's probably the best one on the market at the mo!
But the best thing to do is to get your ECU remapped to run 98RON (Optimax). Safer that way

Anyone recommend somebody who can do a re-map in the South-East? How much brass am I looking at to get it done?
