Wacky Speedo behaviour

Sorry, being a bit lazy but...
...my speedo (MY99 Sti, delimited) is working most of the time, but intermittently falls back to zero, and most recently has jumped up to as high as 180mph (faster than an M3, huh!)
Any clues on this - seems like intermittent electrical contact to me - any one else has this and fixed it easily?
