overheating

temp gauge up at top checked small coolant level by battery looks ok but looking at the other end header tank? empty so what would i top up the coolant too the small inlet by the battery or the header tank by the airfilter

I filled mine up at the header tank... and it never overheats on cold days it doesn't even (quite) get to the half way mark..

If its still overheating after you've toped up then i'd have it checked.

Top up the header tank, but if the overheating problem persists, get it to a garage asa, as you may be doing further damage to the cylinder head, as sounds like a leaking head gasket, thats just started to fail.
