Never had too much trouble with windscreens and then driving home this morning - BANG !!

A BMW in front threw a stone up right in front of me that smacked the windsreen.

Not a crack, yet!, but a chip !!

A couple of questions.

(1). What are the legal issues of a stone chip rather than a crack ?

(2). I have glass cover with my insurance, but what should I specify when asking for a replacement screen ? Anyone ordered a windscreen through Autoglass for an STi5 Type R ???

All help appreciated ?

I'm having a similar problem, see post below.Does your car have bronze/brown tinted windows? If so AutoWindscreens don't stock as it's not a UK tint, they have tried phoning round to find one with no luck so may have to import one from Japan (thank God for insurance!). If you have clear, blue, or green tint you should be OK, Autowindscreens can supply.
Hope your lucky!

Cheers

Top!!

Someone must have some info on this...

Does the P1 use the standard STi5 Type R windscreen ?? Is the tint the same as a P1, therefore would AutoWindscreens be able to supply this now ?

Cheers

Right bitches,

I am currently in teh throws of ordering a new windscreen for the 22B.

I am told this is the same as the type r and yes p1, in that the glass is thinner than normal. I do know of people who have fitted normal windscreens, but I dont want to do that.

Pivilege have a windscreen cover wherein they will pay any amount so long as you go to autoglass (or silvershield?), which I have done. best thing i could do was speak to the dealer directly which was autoglass watford.

I told tehm the car was a jap 22b but to look for a p1 windscreen with a green tint to match the side windows.

They had a supplier in japan or somewhere and are bringing it over for me. Ordered about three weeks back and coming in a couple of weeks. I had to pay my £50 in advance. Perhaps you can give them a call and ask if they can source another like the one they did for mr. messulam.

Hope this has helped.

Thanks for advice guys.

I'll check what the tint is and then give them a call.

Scott.

Whilst talking today to Philip at A-Plan insurance (0845 0711234) special schemes, he happened to mention that he had just found (or someone had stock of) 20 STi windscreens. Might be worth giving him a call to find out who it was.

Cheers
