Ok, how many heat shields does a '97 scooby sport have .

My scooby joy was shattered last week when my toy developed yet another rattle underneath me. I've been to my dealer X times and finally last month had 6 shields replaced.

I went back to the dealer this morning with my sick, diesel sounding tank, they have again done a bit of welding.

I am sad to say my faith is slowing being sapped from my body. Can someone please explain how many shields there are and where they are.

An underbody pic would be great, or alternatively a write up in the SIDC club mag.

 

basically they are from the heads on the engine to about half way down the centre of the car. we find that when they rattle the best cure is to just remove them completely.

If the heat shilds are fitted with spacers , ie several washers , to give more clearance between the headers and the heat shields this prevents the heat shields from cracking as the intensity of the heat they receive is reduced. Try it , it works.
