I have a low mileage 93 WRX which when hot it is possible to beat the synchromesh on 3rd-4th.No other symptoms.
Are there ways to reduce this other than changing the gear box or changing gear like an old lady.

Don't think so, you could posssibly try a different grade of oil to see if it helps but I feel a looksee inside is on the cards.

Sounds like the bulk ring.

If this is the case, changing the oil in mine to slick50 (Barretts of canterbury did mine) will ease the change (in my experience it did), but no solve it...
