I need to replace the Battery on my 98 WRX Sti IV . Does anyone know what amp hour rating I need to get? The current one is a Hitachi and I cannot see a rating on it. Any suggestions for a new one?
thanks in advance

Had the same dilema a few months ago. If you've had no joy by lunchtime I'll pop down to the car park and find out
Be prepared to pay £70 though..

I've just recently changed my battery.
Standard was 50Ah - replaced with 65Ah which fitted no problem.
The battery I got was made by Hella and had several vehicles listed (Honda Prelude etc) but not the Scoob.
Fitted right in however (5 mins) and was just under £50.
Thanks
Gavin

Had a look. The code on the battery is 56068, which I believe is the crank rating and the ampHours, i.e. 560 crank and 68 AH.
I could be wrong though, unfortunately this was all the info I could read from the battery.
Hope this helps

Hi,
Been checking out batteries for my UK Scoob. Halfords is epcial order BUT they have one listed for all Legacys plus some other Jap cars. It's the HB005. A bit smaller than the Scoob one physically but only just so it will fit. Got a crank rating of 380amps.
£49-99.
I can't see why a Legacy one won't be adequate. Anyone tried one of these?

Answered my oqn question. According to the halfords computer listing the Impreza recommended battery has a cranking rating of 370 amps. So the Legacy one is well up to the job.
Gonna recheck the measurements before I buy but:
Legacy battery - £49-99 - on the shelf
Impreza battery - £89-99 - special order
Not really a hard decision...

Couldn't see an amp hour rating on the Halfords batteries. Probably didn't look hard enough though.... Now I've almost certainly found a cheaper match then I'll make 100% certain. But as the 'cranking amps' is more on the Legacy battery than the Impreza then I see no problem.
Dunno about WRXs. BUT I thought that the gating factor was the alternator rather than the battery. I always hated electronics at Uni (and always failed it!) but AFAIK the amp hour rating only tells you how long it will last without being charged. As your (damn ... speeling.....!!!) alternator is charging it as you drive then the Ah rating isn't that important.... I'm sure someone will point out the flaw in my logic though...
