Unhappy

My MY00 has developed an irritating knocking noise when queueing in traffic or maneuvering at low speed. It's coming from the driver's side, either from under the bonnet or possibly within the door, and sounds like a wooden spoon tapping the edge of a saucepan(!)

My guess is that something has come loose and is swinging around all the time, and taps against something else when I accelerate or brake; for example, when I come to a halt in traffic it taps a few times before stopping.

My dealer has replaced the anti-klonking clips in the front brake assembly, but that hasn't helped - in any case, it doesn't seem related to brake pedal pressure.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? And how do I put it right? It's driving me mad!

Thanks
Andy.

Question

Andy
Check your alarm bracket, a lot of them are breaking, it could be the root of all your evils.
But then again it might not.
Just a thought.

RON: 10 out of 10 - just checked this morning, and my alarm bracket is broken. And it's scratched the paint off the suspension mounting turret where it's been rubbing

More worrying is that there's a black cable tie holding the alarm on as well - is that meant to be there all the time, or has my dealer simply fitted that instead of replacing the bracket? I'd be seriously erm.... annoyed if they have...

Andy.
