Heavy Steering

Been driving to work this week and the steering is getting heavier & heavier, I got the tracking checked last night & the tyre pressures [31].
When steering there is no noticeable grinding sounds, the car does not pull left or right, under acceleration or braking.
It has not been kerbed
It has not hit anything except 1/2 million speed humps & collapsing drain covers.
Anyone got any suggestions as to what I should look for or at ??
