I have tried searching the archives for this info, but have had no joy, so apologies if it a topic that has been done to death.

I have heard (at Autosports) that HKS have had a new Fuel controller available for the scooby the the last few months. I am interested in fitting this onto my car and would welcome comments from anyone who has had this fitted onto their car. i believe there are twelve points across the rev range that can be controlled. I also believe that Apexi make an equivalent unit (super AFC) and would also welcom any comments on that unit.

TIA

Apexi Fuel controller is much clever :-)

The Apexi S-AFC is a fuel computer that adjusts fuel/air ratio by modifying the air-flow meter/MAP sensor signal.

The S-AFC features a user-definable, eight-point, adjustable fuel curve that can be set in 500 RPM increments. The range of fuel adjustment is +/- 50% at each of the user-defined setting points. On hot-wire vehicles, the Deceleration Air Flow Correction function is capable of curing the erratic idle and stall problems associated with open-atmosphere blow-off valves on hot-wire air-flow meter systems.

The S-AFC is capable of monitoring and replaying the following data channels in Numerical, Analog Meter and Graph displays: Intake Manifold Vacuum/Boost Pressure, Air Flow Capacity, Intake Manifold Pressure, Karmann Frequency, Engine RPM, Throttle Position, and Air Flow Correction %.

Zero,

The Super AFC sounds yummy Do you know how much they cost (inclusive of fitting) and also, would they work well in conjunction with a Link ECU?

Oh, and most importantly could the fueling be altered so it pops and bangs on let-off?

ta,
Matt

Mattski,

On the overrun my UK94 with a Super AFC does cause it to pop and bang...somewhat similar to Antilag....infact it causes the revs to bounce when it pops

Mine fitted complete with a Apexi boost controller, Apexi AFC and a BoV cost something like 1500 quid

BUT I love it, the fact that I can switch between hi and lo boost on the move is fab.

I am not sure what the unit is called. I dont know if it really exists. From what I have heared, I do not believe that it is a replacement for the FCON5 but is a cheaper (more entry level) unit.

Thumbs down

Mattski
The link ecu doesn't use the air flow meter , so this device won't do anything for the performance of the car .

The Apexi SAFC rocks... looks good too

You can minimise/prevent the back fires with setting the thing up correctly..

I might be selling mine shortly... Mattski..we might need to talk

As far as I know.. the new HKS fuel computer is just that.. a fuel controller... the FCON is a fuel and ignition controller.

Mattski ~ I'll see what I can find !
I have the fuel controller hidden in the glove box, and the boost controller fitted by the gearlever ~ just below the ashtray on a UK94 model.

It looks quite neat IMHO. Just made the girlfriend jump when she opened the glovebox, and found some more gismos :-)

I've never watched the fuel controller, or altered it at all so it just sits there doing its job....

Cheers.
