I bought my first scoob in Feb this year, it is a 94 IMPREZA WRX WAGON imported in 98. It has 75,000 miles on it and a regular service record as far back as May 2000. With the only problem being a misfire in August 2001, which was cured by fitting new coil packs. The problem is that when under load it feels as if it is being held back. When you hit 5000 RPM it pulls harder. Can't hear a misfire. When you press the throttle gently it runs a lot smoother. That will go on for a week or so, then for no reason for a couple of days, it will run great no matter how hard you drive. I use Shell Optimax with NF Octane Booster. I had a major service done three weeks ago after which it ran great for about a week and then went back to normal. I would appreciate any help with this as it is driving me NUTS!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I hope I have explained this properly as it is the first time I have done this.
CHEERS.

When was your fuel filter last changed. I had the same sort of problem at about 6000. Changed plugs and fuel filter and it was sorted. Sure it was the fuel filter though as i cut it open and it was covered in S@!t.

My 94 WRX wagon had a similar problem. Never really found the cure but did seem to go away eventually. Found a small air leak into the inlet manifold (tightened hose).
Also reduced the oil level to just above minimum which seemed to help. Defo had a problem sucking oil into the boost pipes when driving up and down hills.
May not be your problem, but worth checking.
