Have now had my driver's door window wind noise solved completely.
The dealer changed the armature (!) or something like that and now the window is perfect - no noise at last.
All I need to do now is get the passenger door one done as well - now I can hear it.
Warranty job, but they need to order the part.
Hooray.

I'm interested because I get really bad wind. I'm surprised doing something to my car will help though! What bit is the armature - is that where my bum goes?

I used to have the same problem, then I just moved my mirrors in electrically and adjusted the actual galss to compensate. Now no noise at all.
