Question

Do you think its worth forking out for a Boost guage? Car is Turbo 2000 with full decat exhaust system. I have heard a couple of people mention that cars with full decat systems suffer with over boost etc?!? How accurate are boost guages? I'm considering purchasing the standard subaru gauge.

Thanks

Yeah, for definate it's worth investing in one, you can see immediately if somethings gone awry, like a hose becoming detached from the wastegeate actuator causing unlimited boost....

As for acuracy, My Sti v3 gauge (oem) reads 1.5 bar and my scoobymonitor reads 1.95 bar max, so mine is accurate to .5 bar (ish) - so you can see probably best not to trly on for setting boost levels, but as far as day to day monitoring goes - can't be beat.

Definately worth investing in one - however you will know if you have overboosted - you will be peeling your face off the widscreen!

They are handy to see if your boosting whilst accelerating on the M way (keeps the fuel bill down a bit)but I mainly use mine to keep off boost for 3 - 4 mins b4 stopping the engine.

Boost depends on what MY you have.
Mines a MY99 and peak boosts is 16psi which drops slightly and holds 14 psi on acceleration.
Lifting off gives a negative reading and just tootling along gives a zero reading as does switching the engine off.
Some gauges read in Bar some in PSI.
