Ticking Valve and Strange noise
#1
I have recently purchased a 97R 2000 Turbo Impreza with 21500 mls.
I have taken it back to the garge because it had a ticking noise when you touched the accelarator, i was told it was the Booster Valve (driver side, top half near wind screen). They replaced the valve and all was ok for about three days, and the ticking has come back. Is this a common fault? Any ideas?
when driving i am also getting a noise, which i though was just air going into the scoop on the bonnet.
Sounds like some body blowing on the top of a milk bottle, or a Tie Fighter flying past.
Any ideas?
help would be appreciated, as i am a first time Scooby driver.

Michael,
the 2nd one is a very common fault (see the FAQ at http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.html) on MY97 cars, and your Subaru dealer should be able to fix it very quickly, though they will have to order replacement parts (free of charge).
The first problem is not unheard of either, and again your dealer should be able to fix quickly free of charge.
I would get them to fix both at the same time.

Michael,
My car has done this almost from new (now has 16.5k)and doesn't seem to cause any problems. See the topics below for some more info.
