As above, how do I find out what's in there?
Is there a plate or someting behind alternator with 'A' or 'B' on it?
Also the little waffle squares differentiate between closed block or not? Which is which?
Questions, questions!!!

if you look on the top of the engine block just behind where the alternator sits, you will find a stamping by the central "join" of the engine halves with some letter codings:
For example : A A
[front of engine] :
: A B
These will be stamped in the direction and position of which piston code is which.
So with the above sequence.
Number 1 piston is an "A"
Number 2 piston is an "A"
Number 3 piston is an "A"
Number 4 piston is a "B"
For example : A A
