Steering scraping

I'm getting a scraping noise from the steering, it is intermitent and happens when the steering wheel is stationary as well as when turning. Any body got any ideas?

I have experienced similar noises on other cars and it is not uncommon for the sort of noise you have described to be attributable to air in the power steering system.

usually worse from start-up, when the fluid is cold if that is what it is.
