turbo whistle
#1
hi all,
started to notice a sligtly different sound from my turbo recently (MY96 sti2).
still get the whistle on spool up, starting around 2500rpm and this is constant through acceleration, as before, but i seem to be getting a different noise when i come off boost.
this noise sounds like a hoover being switched off or a fading siren (sorry, best description i can think of).
the more i hear this noise the more it bothers me, and i feel that the performance of the car has also dropped a bit...
have a new blitz nur spec r exhaust booked for next week, so i'll get it checked out then, but any ideas or advice would be very helpful in the meantime. i'm hoping maybe its just a split pipe or leaking dump valve....?
the car is totally standard at the moment btw..
cheers, dodge

Check the hoses on the turbo for splits (unusual for them to go but hey) check the jubilee clips are tight and haven`t slackened off. If no probs there have a look at the vac lines
