Question

Hi all,
My 98 UK (51k miles) has developed a bizarre squeak which occurs only when the engine is warm, when turning to the right and seems to be coming from the bulkhead area! It starts off as a low frequency squeak when parking or slow turning; then goes high pitched and faster with more velocity!!

I originally thought it was the joints linking the steering column and sprayed WD40 on them, but the noise is still there and is driving me mad! The steering wheel has NO play in it. I've checked the inner & outer cv boots and they look ok. It had a major service by Subaru about 2 months ago and nothing was spotted then....so what could it be??? Any ideas?

Cheers

Wink

Powersteering belt seems the obvious cause on the info yu have given dude. Spray a bit of wd on that and see if it goes. Then go and get yourself a new one. They get shiny along the edge and make some strange noises.
Mind you someone might tell you it is piston slap!
