How come I can outrun an FQ300 with only 285bhp?
#1
With a Powerstation rolling road of 284.5bhp and 253 lb/ft (see here for graph) I am confused as to why I am faster in a straight line than a Mitsubushi Evo FQ300. (same amount of passengers and fuel) What torque does the Evo have?
Any other explanations?

Maybe the FQ300 was in reverse.
Maybe the FQ300 was in sixth gear.
Maybe the FQ300 was running 95 ron fuel.
YES AND MAYBE IT WASN'T ALL OF THE ABOVE AND NEZZ DID ACTUALLY BEAT IT.
Fair play Nezz, savour the moment because it won't happen with every Mitsi.

John - Ya, would be nice to seee what the FG would hit. How heavy is the FQ?
Steven - LOL , Cannot make the Scoobyshoot out now mate Maybe next year.
Matt - The FQ was when I was back in Bridgwater at the weekend. I wasn't that much faster but still pulled away over 80mph (test track of course!)

Nezz, I take it the FQ wasn't in reverse
Seriously, could be the gearing I guess. The FQ would've been in 6th, so that may have had something to do with it. Having now got one, I am a bit surprised, as they are pretty darn quick.
Best thing is just to bask in your own glory, and not wonder why - in case the answer ain't too good!

Witnessed yesterday a claimed figure of 192 bhp for a standard BMW 2.5 Coupe (short tail) it actually made 170; many manufactures have been known to up the figures by doing some fettling that never is seen on the production car.
Plus it looks better in the literature with more bhp.....

Matt - Reverse, LOL
It was thru 3th, 4th and 5th, mainly in 4th I was edging away. You will have to show me yours sometime. We could always test them on Quedgeley air strip

Maybe the FQ300 was running on 95 RON?
As Xtreme alludes, most official power figures come off blueprint engines running in optimal (sometimes non-realistic) conditions. Real, series production engines, running common or garden pump petrol, may not always replicate official power figures...

Arron - I was actually trying to find out why so I wanted the excuses. I would go for the weight factor personally, duno how much an FQ300 weighs though.
I was also thinking with Powerstations rollers being 'conservative' as they are that it may be not actually be running 285bhp.
