I take it you cant hear the woosh as you change gear in the highish revs then?
What spring is in it, as there are different strengths of springs

I fitted one to my bug eye the fisrt one didnt work at all, just got a hissing sound and check engine light, not saying yours is broke just they have been known to fail from new, I have the blue spring in mine, like most people on this site afaik
a change of spring will only make the air release after higher revs ( red ) or lower revs ( yellow)

The strength of the spring is not at all related to the rev count - it is related to the pressure differential required to release the pressure from the manifold.
The stronger spring requires a greater differential and it you set it up just so your car will make nice WRC style chirping as you change gear.
If the spring is too tight then the manifold will retain pressure which will cause the turbo to stall and then you get a really good chirping sound until either the impeller wheel breaks or the thrust bearing goes...
...mind you, some turbos can easily cope with this - TD, Garrett, others such as standard VFs are more likely to fail.
Do you have a boost guage - if your VTA is not working then when you are on boost and release the throttle - to change gear for example - the boost will fall slowly - typically in little steps as the turbo is stalling. If the boost falls rapidly - and you a are holding boost fine in gear then the valve is working fine.

That is correct fitting - the Forge VTA do make a slight hissing noise when let off
IMHO the forge recirc and an induction kit makes much more noise if that is what you are after.
