Will a dealer notice that I have put a prodrive ecu into my MY99 when I take it in for a minor service (the one after the 45K cambelt change). Its still under extended warranty so I don't want them to know. I can put the old ecu back in but would rather avoid the hassle. I've put in samco turbo hoses in as well so that may void my warranty anyway?

The only way a dealer will know is if they use a boost guage and check against std also samco hoses shouldnt invalidate warranty, my stiv7 has a FULL samco hose kit on.
The only time it will invalidate warranty is if a part u have changed causes damage then the claim will be void.
hope this helps

scoobymoo,
slightly off topic - was there anything on your ECU
to identify it as PRODRIVE (stickers/writing)??
Its just that I have been offered a Prodrive ECU, but there
is nothing on it relating to Prodrive (just pink STI sticker)
thanks for any info

if its a prodrive ECU then it's warranty friendly anyway so dont worry about it.

Fizz, what happened?
Albob, mine has a pink STI sticker nothing mentioning prodrive, as far as I am aware all of them do for 99/00. As to the dealer thing I think I am going to risk it for the service but if anything goes wrong such that I need to claim on warranty put the old chip back in. Also I think they would have a hard time proving that because I put the chip in and not one of their mechanics its led to problems, its not exactly difficult. Anyway its worth the risk, transformed the car and it wasn't exactly slow before.

You may probably find there will be less chance of an engine problem with the prodrive ecu as it will have been remapped to cure the lean mixture which caused so many piston failures in those "MY" cars. The standard ecu did have a tendency to run lean on long trips at constant speeds.
But as previously said, without lifting up the passengfer carpet AND unbolting the cover sheild, who is to know. i dont think a dealer would even suspect anything untill a major fault occurred, but then again, on seeing a prodrive ecu, they would consider it fitted in correct procedure anyway. Only if noticing a "non gen" ecu label, would they throw multitudes of toys out of the proverbial pram !!

Dude, if you are that worried call the dealer say... I'm thinking of changing my Current ECU for a Prodrive one... will this void my warranty??
See what they say, if yes then swap back, if no... Happy days, they don't know you've already done it
