Decided to do the oil yesterday so got a filter from Subaru and managed to find a place that would get me some Castrol RS 10w60 - they ordered it in and it took a couple of hours. 35 quid for 5 litres!
So I did the oil change, no problems at all.
Just gone to put the spare half litre in the boot, just in case, and have noticed that 3 of the 1 litre bottles were indeed 10w60, but 2 were 0w40!!! So I have 3 litres of 10w60 and 1 1/2 litres of 0w40 in my engine.
Pretty pissed off at going to all that effort, and only now realising their mistake. I maybe should have checked each of the 5 bottles in the shop, but he had them ready for me and I only glanced at one to check it was right.
I don't think it will be a major problem for my engine, though I may be wrong??
I'm going back to the shop to tell them, wondering what my demands should be - I am thinking 2 free bottles of 10w60.

You've just done what I actually intend to do for winter use! From experience I find the 10/60 a bit thick for winter so intend to mix with 0/40 to reduce the viscosity a tad. It would be interesting to hear from anyone who would object to this?
You'll have no problems, you've probably now got the equivelent of something like 8/55 in the sump!
Next time order your oil direct from Castrol Classic oils. 4x4litres - £99 delivered.
