Dawes devices and fuel cut
#1
About to fit a Dawes device this weekend probably.
Also fitting an air/fuel meter and a boost gauge.
How far can I take the boost before I start to run into fuel cut problems and has anyone got any recommendations about the fitting of the above kit?
Will be fitting with the aid of a knowledgeable 200sx owning friend but need to know if there is anything I should or shouldn't do to preserve my car!
Also what is standard boost on a 97 UK Turbo?

I think standard boost on a UK 97 is around 11.4 Psi & you will hit fuel cut at around 14.9 Psi. Set it around the 14 mark & all should be fine, Instructions with the Dawes are very straight forward so should not be difficult. Don't forget the Usual, that it may be running Lean (Afr meter) Only use Optimax (maybe Octane booster as well) especially on these hot days & that the above is only a guide & not gaurenteed.

Hmmm - conflicting answers. Reckon I should fit the boost gauge first and see what standard is! Then I can start messing about and see what happens.
Any ideas what power gain I can expect. I am currently running a standard car other than de-cat centre and aftermarket back box.

Yes. Whatever you set it to do it in top gear if you have the roads to do it. Due to engine load you will create more boost for longer periods of time in 5th than in 3rd, hence you may not get fuel cut if setting in 3rd, but afterwards when driving in 5th you may!
