Had an ITG panel on last Scooby, when I took it out after 6k it:

1) Was warped / bent
2) Had bits missing from the surround (the mesh was fine)

I worried over where the bits had gone...

Also noticed 1-2 mpg worsening over standard filter.

That said there was a very slight improvement in performance & suction noise (if you like that sort of thing).

I don't believe the 000's of miles guarantee.

Good panel filters like the K&N or the Green are certainly safer choices than induction kits, and offer most of the advantages, without most of the potential disadvantages.

There are easily forseeable circumstances where an induction kit can cause problems, if, for example, the change in breathing causes fake MAF readings, which causes the engine to run lean, or if the MAF sensor is damaged due to oil contamination or vibration, similarly resulting in a lean-running engine.

Of course the oil contamination can be a problem with a panel filter, which is why the Green and K&N products come highly recommended.

Well put GM.

T HE OTHER PROB YOU GET IS THE ENGINE SUCKING IN HOT AIR FROM A CONE FILTER, CONE FILTERS TAKE AIR FROM WHERE THERE PLACED, SO IF INSIDE ENGINE BAY THEN YOU'LL BE SUCKING SOME HOT STUFF.

THE ENGINE NEEDS COLD AIR, THE COLDER THE BETTER, COLD AIR IS MORE DENSE THE WARM/HOT AIR, AND THE MORE AIR YOU PUT IN, THE MORE FUEL CAN GO IN, MORE FUEL MORE AIR ! MORE POWER!!!

SORRY FOR TYPING IN CAPS! ME BOARD IS DRYING OUT FROM ALCHOL SPLILLAGE

we have tried and tested various induction kits on our rolling road, most were found to make less BHP but more noise, I got ITG panel filter in both my Scoobs.
