Question

Has anyone tried the Autospeed intelligent intercooler water spray?

Looks very, very clever and looks quite cheap ie £150 incl courier.

Any thoughts?

Use to run it (activated above 15psi with boost pressure switch) with fmi.
Now I ve set it as water injection (pump is 115psi)after fmi and working perfect for 2yrs now with 0.4mm nozzle rated at 180ml/minute.
Reading via my Motec ,inlet temps almost as ambient when on full boost(1.5bar)-

Cheers

Good, better order it then. They reckon I should have it in 4 working days, so should have it fitted for the Ring next weekend

What sort of size reservoir am I going to need? How long (roughly) will 5 litres last?

5 ltrs should last u 5000ml/180ml per minute= 27.7minutes on constant boost??
I use OE washer bottle with distilled water.
If to use with fmi must have s/s pipe as steel will rust???

28 minutes, about 1/2 a tank of fuel then

Piping is s/s so no worries there. With the exchange rate it came to £120 inc the shipping (DHL from Oz to the UK). I now have 4 working days to work out where to put the 5.5 litre reservoir I have sitting in the garage.

Bargain!

Thanks for your help.

Excuse my ignorance Rapac..but you basically modified this intelligent intercooler spray and now use it as a water injection system ??

My set up is activated via boost controller and above 15psi.
I got parts seperately (nozzle, filter, one way valve, pump, hose, hobb switch) and set it.
I also found it more benefitial to run WI, after measuring intake temps with water spray on the AVO fmi .
Car is daily driven at 1.5bar boost with around 400hp.
It also has the ECU,turbo, engine, injectors, pump, rails, fmi, tune etc to cater for the output, however WI has given me the security of pushing it hard any time all the times without the fear of detonation due to bad fuel, hot weather etc etc.
My97 with 160000kms is a solid proof of that ,meaning that if ur car is set properly it will not fail?
PS.I do not have knock or air/fuel gauge
Didnt mean to make it that long

That's very helpful not too long at all. So did the parts cost much at all??

I will be fitting an APEXi boost controller with my APEXi power FC so i would like to do something similar to this?? Water injection kits cost a few hundred quid here.

Thanks Chris.

CSWMinty, yes you can use this unit to control water injection, that is what I plan in the medium term.

I liked the way I could get it to run of injector duty cycle rather than off the boost level, especially when combined with being able to put another trigger point in when say the rear of the intercooler got to 5c above ambient.

Shurflow pump rated at 115psi,$350
Nozzle(0.4mm) with filter and one way valve $20 (unlike the 2 flimsy ERL nozzles I got from MRT for $200,what a waste ??)
Hobb switch,$70
Hose,$3
That was 3yrs back .
Price in OZ $$

The site I linked to at the top has an online shop so you can price it all up from there.
