OK lads I got my dump valve tuning kit this morning and it consists of 4 springs (red, blue, green and yellow) and 3 metal discs. What colour spring will give the closest to a 'chirp' sound and what are the discs for ????

Red gives you the thk-thk-thk-thk-thk sound but only at v.high revs. Most people use the blue spring which is the next 'firmest' spring, Just gives you a thskkkkkkkkkkkk though. Don't know about the other two but they are softer than the blue so I guess it's a bigger thskkkkkkkk at lower revs.

Question

Do you have a recirculating or a vent to atmosphere dump valve?

Assuming it's a Forge one!

The red one is the firmest and anything but full chat you here compressor stall, thats running circa 17/18 psi...It was 2 strong for my liking put the blue back in and 1 shim......might take it out though coz as standard it seems pretty strong.

Compressor stall is the sound of the turbo blades being slowed by the air flowing backwards over them. It shortens the life of your turbo. Not really recommended.

Blue Spring with one or two shims is ideal. Yellow is actually a touch on the weak side at standard boost, though will give you the best whistly/chirrup sound.

Cheers guys. I'm going to try the yellow one at the weekend if not the blue with the shims.
