thinking of getting this done with a Pace FMIC and was wondering what characteristics of the car will change. will this lower boost temps (so that i may apply even more boost), will spool up be quicker and if so from what sort of rev range(can expect to see >1 bar at 3500 or less). yes i would like a higher bhp figure but i would like more torque, alot more torque. is this going in the right direction? will i need to remap from standard 95wrx map? sorry for so many questions but the mods are NOT cheap and i know we are getting into a law of diminishing returns here, so i just want to be sure.

Have a read in the search engine - there is LOADS of info there.
Loads of people have been finding out about it and quite a few have had it done now.
You definitely need a remap (more money)

Well I've never posted about my experience with a TD05 so I'll do it here
Turbo produces positive pressure (2-3psi) quite early and then slowly increases to about 10psi before starting to spool really hard, unlike the TD04 which spools much more evenly. Even so I get 1bar by about 3200-3300 RPM in 4th. Between gears I actually think there is less lag in the TD05 than the TD04, but this could be due to other mods, mapping etc.
Overall there is more of an impression of driving a turbocharged car than with the TD04 but it's definately not what I would call laggy. In normal road driving (UK car) you don't make the most of the turbo until 3rd gear but 3rd and 4th are more flexible now, anything from 3500-6800 (I have my rev limiter at 7000 which means soft cut at 6800) gives near instant throttle response and it feels consistantly strong. Even at partially boost there is more torque as well.

thanks andrew.
I am current running a JDM 95 WRX with a dawes. i can hold a full 1.1 bar in 1st to 4th (5th gives me a little trouble). boost starts pretty early for me at about 2750rpm then by 3850 - 4000 all hell breaks loose (in 1st,2nd and 3rd anyway). just wondering if its gonna make all that much of a difference for the money circa £3k. yes the car will be ALOT safer especially with a proper boost controller but i feel i am not gonna get alot more bang for my buck (unless its the whole engine).
unsure what to do
cheers

Les,
i am using 100ml per tank. i think to err on the side of caution as i can't get optimax in NI. having said that on the way back from TOTB2 i stopped at Scotch Corner and filled up with Optimax as well as 100ml of NF. Can't say as i noticed a difference
cheers

Thanks for the info. I've been running straight optimax so far and no bad indications but the hot weather makes the occasional "ripple" of lights on the Knock Link. Only up to first amber but I like to be safe from any det at all. I'll give it a try. Maybe that and an ECU reset might liven things up.
